GIANT GOREY RABBIT TO TAIL VICE PRESIDENT
PETA Exposes Gores Animal-Poisoning Platform

Madison, Wis. Holding a sign that reads, Gore: Burn Bunnies, Lose Votes, PETAs giant Gorey rabbit with open wounds and toxic burns will hand out leaflets outside Gore events, Saturday, April 10, in Wausau and Madison, to the very voters from whom the presidential hopeful is in town to gain support:

When Gore supporters find out that the largest, most expensive animal-testing program in U.S. history is being rammed through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by Al Gore, his popularity as a green candidate for the 2000 election may quickly turn an unpopular brown.

PETAs bunny, who has been trailing Gores campaign drive across the country (see following), is alerting voters that the high production volume (HPV) chemical-testing program will poison millions of birds, fish, rabbits, and other animals with thousands of chemicalsmany already known to be hazardoussuch as turpentine and rat poison.

The program has no provisions for projects that have a real chance at protecting the public and the environment, such as decreasing hazardous exposures to people or preventing toxic spills.

The HPV chemical-testing program does nothing for the Earth, less for humans, and it burns the skins of bunnies, says Mary Beth Sweetland, PETAs director of research and investigations.
